The "94fdr" (Fordham) project was never meant to be a true BRT like the TransMilenio. It was designed as "Select Bus Service" (SBS)—a branding term for a "lite" BRT. The goal was to improve speed and reliability on one of the heaviest bus corridors in the borough without the astronomical cost of building a subway or acquiring massive amounts of land.
