The story follows Madhav Jha (played by Arjun Kapoor), a simple boy from Bihar who gains admission to a prestigious college in Delhi. There, he meets Riya Somani (played by Shraddha Kapoor), a wealthy, modern, and sophisticated girl from Delhi. Madhav falls deeply in love with Riya, but she is reluctant to commit fully. She proposes a compromise: she will be his "half girlfriend"—more than a friend, but less than a girlfriend.
