Instead, drawing on Gerbner’s (1976) cultivation theory and Williams’ (1974) concept of "mobile privatization," we propose a recursive model : popular media internalizes cultural anxieties, repackages them as compelling narratives, and then re-presents them to audiences, subtly shifting their baseline perceptions of normalcy and desirability.
