The story opens with a violent car accident. We meet So Moon (played by Jo Byeong-kyu), a high school student who walks with a limp due to a past tragedy. He is kind but bullied. Meanwhile, a group of noodle shop employees – Jang Chul-joong (Yoo Joon-sang), Do Ha-na (Kim Se-jeong), and Ga Mo-tak (Yoo In-soo) – are secretly “Counters.” These are demon hunters chosen from the afterlife to capture evil spirits that escape from the dimension of the dead.

The Uncanny Counter revolves around the story of So Moon (played by Jo Ara), a high school student who dreams of becoming a prosecutor. One day, she encounters a mysterious boy named Do Hwa (played by Yoon Bak), who possesses supernatural abilities. As they navigate their lives, they stumble upon a group of individuals with extraordinary powers, known as "Counters." These Counters are tasked with protecting humans from evil spirits, known as "Hitlers."
