Daryl Hall and John Oates met in 1967 while attending Temple University in Philadelphia. They began performing together, playing covers and original songs in local clubs and bars. After dropping out of college, they formed the duo Hall & Oates, releasing their debut album, "Whole Oats," in 1972. The album was a modest success, but it laid the groundwork for their future success.
