The story follows Han Sang-ryeol (played by the late, great Choi Seung-hyun, also known as T.O.P from the group BIGBANG), a promising young pianist who is drafted into the military. After a devastating tragedy robs him of his ability to perform and shatters his spirit, he is assigned to a ragtag unit tasked with rounding up orphans.

The film begins in the early 1950s, two years into the Korean War. After suffering tragic personal loss on the front lines, Lieutenant Han Sang-ryeol is assigned to a base in Busan where he oversees a shelter for orphaned refugee children. Despite the surrounding devastation, he and volunteer Joo-mi organize the children into a choir.
