The film is set in Barrow, Alaska, a town that experiences a full month of polar night (30 days without sunlight) every winter. As the town prepares for the long night, a group of strangers arrives by boat. It is soon revealed that they are vampires, intent on slaughtering the isolated town with no sunlight to stop them. The sheriff (Hartnett) and his estranged wife (George) must lead the survivors in a fight for survival until the sun rises again.
