Each character’s dub voice accentuated their archetype in superior ways. (the future voice of Goku in Dragon Ball Z ) as A.C. Screech’s nasal, squeaky original voice was already annoying; the Latin dub made him endearingly pathetic, a geek you pitied and laughed with, not at. Even Mr. Belding ’s authoritative yet baffled tone became more paternalistic in Spanish. The collective rhythm of the dialogue became faster, more improvisational, and emotionally exaggerated—closer to a telenovela’s comic relief than a safe American sitcom. That energy made the “serie completa” binge-worthy in ways the original’s slower pacing does not hold up.
