The movie revolves around Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham), a deep-sea rescue diver who is hired to rescue a group of scientists trapped in a submerged submersible at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. However, things take a drastic turn when Taylor discovers that the submersible is being attacked by a massive prehistoric shark, the Megalodon. The creature is enormous, with a length of over 60 feet, and is thought to be extinct. Taylor teams up with Dr. Suyin Zhang (Li Bingbing), a Chinese oceanographer, to stop the Megalodon and save the trapped scientists.
